Lyudmila Borodulina was born in Moscow, and moved to Siberia when she was seven years old and Vitaliy Vdovichenko was born in Omsk, Siberia. They both began dancing as young children and were already teaching others when they were both teenagers. Their individual accomplishments included Vitaliy as the Junior Siberian 10 Dance Champion and Lyuda as the number three Standard Amateur dancer during their youth. They began dancing together in 1992 and were the three times Siberian 10 Dance Champions. They were married in 1999 and decided to take on their biggest challenge yet, moving to the United States, where they continued their competitive, as well as, teaching careers.

They were the US National Rising Star Champions in Standard and finalists of the US Open Rising Star Standard Championships as well as, winners of the Ohio Star Ball Ballroom Championships, Heritage Classic Dance sport Championships, Yuletide Ball and North American Championships, Yankee Classic & New England Dance sport Championships, Embassy Ball Dance sport Championships, New Jersey State Open Championships, and other prestigious dance sport competitions throughout the USA and abroad.

Though far away from their homeland, they have found a new family through dance here in North Carolina, where they enjoy teaching and traveling, representing Charlotte in various events across the country. In 2007, they were named Top Studio at The Yankee Classic Dance sport Championships and Vitaliy has consistently placed among the top 5 in Top Teacher Awards in various competitions. Vitaliy and Lyuda realized their dream come true in 2008 when they opened their very own dance studio here in Charlotte. Ballantyne Ballroom is their opportunity to continue to share the joy of ballroom dancing and grow their dance family
